Event Management as an Industry
There’s only a few of us that know what exactly event management is. The concept of event management as an industry might sound alien to some people but event management is a booming industry in current times despite the current economic depression. Why? Because events of any type / size are considered as a very powerful marketing and communication tool in order to create awareness in this global world of information.
"The recent growth of festivals and events as an industry around the world means that the management can no longer be ad hoc.”
Wikipedia
Today, where information can be transferred faster than ever before, and with the increasing competition, only those who can make their products or brands known worldwide will come out as the winners. It’s no wonder why corporate companies are organizing mega events to help them communicate with their customers, clients or potential clients. Events like press conferences, product launching, private party, grand openings, film premieres, fashion shows and many more are being held regularly every year in hopes of generating coverage and transparency that will reach millions of people.
What is Event Management?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Event management is the application of the event management practice of project management to the creation and development of festivals and events.Event management involves studying the intricacies of the brand, identifying the target audience, devising the event concept, planning the logistics and coordinating the technical aspects before actually executing the modalities of the proposed event.”
For me, event management isn’t just about a group of people organizing weddings, fashion shows or concerts. It’s more about how those people deal with the problem that will definitely arise before and after the event while making sure that their clients and the event participants are satisfied with everything. It’s never easy, but the thrills of organizing an event, the experience that I’ll get and the friends that I met along the way are priceless.
As mentioned above, managing an event does not only include the execution of the projects, but also the pre-event details such as the planning of the event, logistics planning, and also finding funds for the events. So be sure to include all these details into your project plan.
That's all from me today. I'll try to publish at least two posts weekly, one post about general information on event management, like this one, and the other one will be on how to organize an event.
OK, then. I'll see you when I see you.
